Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors. We've now also partnered with Wellington City Council to operate Tākina, Wellington's newest Convention and Exhibition Centre.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Floor Supervisor to join our dynamic team to work as and when required on a casual basis. Your role is to ensure every aspect of the Te Papa Venues event or function is delivered effectively and efficiently to Te Papa and Tākina standards, meeting customer expectations and within budget.

We operate 7 days a week and therefore your flexibility to work over a 7-day roster including Public Holidays and weekends are essential criteria, as is the flexibility to work in varying locations across Te Papa and Tākina.

The position involves:

  • Overseeing every function to ensure that client expectations are met at all times, proactively resolving any issues; and
  • Training and supervise Venues staff to ensure a high standard of customer service is delivered at all times; and
  • Ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures, and legislative requirements of food hygiene and safety and Responsible Service of Alcohol etc.

Key skills and attributes for this position include:

  • Experience in supervising an events/hospitality team 
  • Customer-focused attitude and attention to detail
  • A passion for delivering WOW factor functions
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Negotiation and problem solving skills
  • General Manager License
  • First Aid Qualification

The hourly rate for this position is $29-30 per hour. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role, and internal relativities with other employees.

Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including criminal conviction history and reference checking as a minimum.
