Mō te roopu - About the team

International Revenue Strategy (IRS) plays a critical role in maintaining IR's great international reputation and delivering future-focused services to IRS customers. These customers include other international tax authorities and organisations,and individuals with off shore interests. The team continues to address the big international tax issues through smart strategies and effective exchange of international intelligence.

IRS has recently refreshed its focus and team structure to enable further improvements to customer experience by focusing all roles on delivering the right outcomes for IR, government, and ultimately, for customers.

Mō te tūnga - About the role

Customer Compliance Specialists within IRS have a unique opportunity to contribute to New Zealand's international tax programme, focusing on working with customers and their representatives to facilitate international tax compliance domestically and globally. New Customer Compliance Specialists will come with strong analytical, communication and relationship management skills willing to work with taxpayers and their representatives to facilitate international tax compliance.

If this sounds like you, take a chance and join the team at a very interesting time as we further develop and refine Inland Revenue's international compliance strategies - especially in relation to providing tax technical support and advice to help customers understand and meet their international tax obligations, as well as championing IR's customer centric and intelligence-led culture.

To be successful in the new position and have a positive impact within the team you will have:

  • a curious mindset focused on understanding our customers through highly evolved investigative skills and critical thinking
  • proven ability in reading and analysing financial information
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
  • strong relationship management skills
  • keen analytical and critical thinking skills
  • general knowledge of tax legislation, especially international tax (or a passion and commitment to learn!).

A strong work ethic with a can-do attitude, an appreciation for a fast-paced environment and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
