Ngā kawenga | About the role

We are looking for an Employment and Training Consultant to join our team. This position will be based in the Wellington and will work with people being released from Prison and those currently on Community sentences to get them work ready by assisting them with education and training needs and working with them to overcome barriers to sustainable employment.  

The key focus of your mahi will be to work with jobseekers, their support networks, and employers to overcome any barriers to sustainable employment.

Additionally, you will work collaboratively with other Ara Poutama Aotearoa staff in both Prisons and Community to ensure that jobseekers are supported, and all parties are working to the same goal. The ability to build trust and influence as a specialist is paramount.

Your established network of employer contacts, ability to build relationships and establish a network of partnerships with local employers and training markets, to match jobseekers to suitable sustainable employment opportunities is paramount to your success in this role.  

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Strong level of communication and people skills with a proven record of developing strong relationships across organisations and stakeholders
  • Recruitment experience or experience of supporting people to overcome barriers into employment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different teams to achieve a common goal
  • Willingness to working with and engaging with people who have convictions
  • Proven experience in preparing jobseekers into sustainable employment
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-manage
  • A full NZ Driver licence

You will be people centric, have a high level of integrity, and be motivated to achieve within a target orientated role.  You will be a competent team-player who can show an understanding (or an openness to developing an understanding) of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The starting salary range for this position is: $84,457 - $92,043 per annum.  Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
