Our client, whose head office is based in Invercargill and who employ 100 + staff across the business has 2 key divisions comprising of an Electrical division and a Dairy division. The electrical division services a range of Industrial clients throughout the South Island with the purpose to provide customers with a professional, timely and effective service which by nature some plants require 24/7 back up. Our client is proud to hold a Tertiary level accreditation so upmost care and attention is at the forefront of their minds.
The Job
Reporting to the foreman this role is varied and will involve working on a combination of large and small factories, manufacturing plants and support to the dairy sector. Day to day work can involve;
- Inspects, tests and maintains control systems and programmable logic controllers as well as electrical equipment.
- Reading & understanding Electrical drawings, controller programs and specifications
- Operates a portable computer for breakdown of programmable logic controllers, being familiar with the Windows Environment & the easy soft software program & having experience with the Allan Bradley System is advantageous, along with knowledge of soft starters and variable speed drive starters.
- Installs tests & maintains power supply, lighting, signal & communication systems
- Tests appliances, control devices, communications, & circuits using appropriate measuring equipment
- Assembly and installation of new electrical conduit & wiring in buildings being remodeled or renovated as required.
- Ensures all necessary documentation is completed.
- Repairs, replaces when required Motors, breakers, (relays or contractors) cables, transformers, generators, circuits & other electrical equipment.
- Cleans and checks electrical equipment according to the Preventative Maintenance program
- Diagnoses & replaces faulty equipment/ components in control instrumentation.
- Must be available on a rotation basis with other team members, to answer electrical service calls outside of normal working hours.
About You
You will be a fully Qualified NZ Electrician who holds a current practicing EWRB license. You will also;
- Have a strong work ethic with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer focus with the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of people.
- Sound ability to read drawings and plans.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of workman ship
- Effective time management skills
- Outstanding Health and Safety attitude and record with the ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Clean current Full NZ drivers licence
