Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced paediatric senior nurse to join our team in a full-time, permanent (40 hours/week) capacity as a Paediatric Nurse Consultant.

In this role the Nurse Consultant has accountabilities for the quality of nursing care with a focus across the patient healthcare journey. Contribute to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives and support nursing teams in delivering evidenced based nursing practice. You will participate to the strategic direction of the Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Service and Child Health Directorate.

We are the sole provider of cardiology and cardiac surgical services for infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease in New Zealand and parts of the Pacific Basin. We provide cardiac care across the life spectrum with a fetal cardiology service through to care of those born with congenital heart diseases who are now adults (ACHD). Continued diagnosis and treatment improvements mean our patient population is growing and with it, our service.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

We are seeking a nurse with the following essential skills:

  • At least 8 years’ experience with at least 3 in a paediatric cardiac setting
  • Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
  • A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
  • An understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role
  • Previous senior nurse experience
  • Demonstrate alignment with Te Toka Tumai values
