The Operations Manager - s role is to deliver safe and affordable health outcomes through high level planning and operational management so that services meet their activity targets and are appropriately resourced.
This position is responsible for the operational management of Ward 5 North, Wellington Blood and Cancer, Renal Services and the Pharmacy department and Hospital Palliative Care Services.

This role works across the following services:
Ward 5 North
5 North is a 40 bed ward which covers the needs of inpatient oncology/haematology and renal patients. The ward provides inpatient assessment and treatment services. The majority of this work involves diagnostic assessment, intensive chemotherapy and blood product delivery and symptom management.
Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre
The Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre (WB&CC) incorporates the specialties of Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology and Clinical Haematology into an integrated regional and supra-regional cancer service. Patients reside in the Wellington, Wairarapa and Kapiti Coast regions. Supra-regional services extend beyond these boundaries to cover the Midland region and Nelson-Marlborough. Ambulatory care forms the main focus of patient activities and represents some 70% of the contracted workload. Services provided in the Centre include specialist consultation and treatment for referred Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Haematology patients and 24 hour acute clinical assessment and inpatient care.
Hospital Palliative Care Services
The Hospital Palliative Care Services (HPCS) is a multidisciplinary team operating on site Monday to Friday. It is based primarily at Wellington Regional Hospital. The service has no admitting rights and supports primary teams with specialist Palliative care needs. The Hospital Palliative Care Service is an enterprise wide consult service that works closely with regional hospices to support comprehensive discharge planning when required.

This middle management role partners the Professional leaders such as Nursing Directors, Clinical Leaders and Directors of Allied Professions in the delivery of safe affordable services.
