Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People has a unique mandate of having responsibility to steward change across Government, while commissioning disability support services, as well as transforming how these services are delivered.

Disabled people expected to have greater choice and control over the supports and services they receive to lead their best life. We are committed to this by strengthening relationships and working in partnership with disabled people, tāngata whaikaha Māori, Pacific disabled people and their whānau.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the Role:

We have a unique opportunity for a Programme Lead, Employment Pathways to join us.  You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of employment pathways programmes into Whaikaha and other government agencies.

You will scope, test and build a variety of pathways to employment with the aim to increase the employment of disabled people within the New Zealand Public Service. Success in this role will provide meaningful career development for disabled people and grow their leadership. 

This work programme delivers a key expectation of the Disability 4-point plan which aims to ensure that all people are included in the public service.  You will build constructive relationships with a wide range of government agencies to support and advise recruitment approaches to increase the number of disabled people in their employment.

Ko wai koe | About You: 

You will be a seasoned People and Culture expert ideally with experience designing and implementing employment programmes within large or complex environments. 

You will have proven experience initiating strategic approaches and leading practical responses that work in a variety of environments, paired with knowledge and understanding of human centred design methodology and practices. 

You can influence leaders and peers in other government agencies and will be confident using appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to build constructive and effective relationships. 

You will have strong knowledge and understanding of the disability sector. To undertake this role successfully, you will be a disabled person or be able to establish credibility and trust with the disability community, and have empathy and an understanding of the diverse experiences of disabled people.

Salary range: $117,419.00 - $174,069.00
