Our organisational strategy is Te Korowai o Kaitiakitanga, broadly translating to The Cloak of Stewardship. It brings together the aroha, work and skills of Maritime NZ into a programme that ensures we can operate as strong stewards of the maritime domain. It is being delivered through an organisation-wide work programme to implement key elements of our strategy.

The Te Korowai team is part of our Office of the Chief Executive, People and Culture Group. The team's purpose is to:

  • Take an organisation-wide view of the work required to successfully deliver Te Korowai o Kaitiakitanga, and provide direction and clarity on this to others in Maritime NZ
  • Lead the delivery of all Te Korowai projects and sub-programmes, ensuring projects outcomes are achieved within time, quality and budget expectations
  • Set, maintain and promote best project management, change management, and business process management practices and standards across Maritime NZ
  • Set and maintain excellent programme and project planning, monitoring and reporting practices, to inform organisation priorities for the successful implementation of Te Korowai o Kaitiakitanga

 Te tūnga | The role  

The Te Korowai Programme Manager leads the Te Korowai Programme Team and is responsible for providing effective programme, project, change and process management services to support the delivery of Te Korowai initiatives. The role will be actively invested in the successful implementation of our organisational strategy, working closely with Maritime NZ stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.

Nōu te rourou | What you bring 

As the Te Korowai Programme Manager, you will bring proven technical expertise in programme, project, process and change management as well as the ability to be a people-focused leader. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in management of complex work programmes and leading teams, ideally within public service environments
  • Experience using recognised project and programme methodology and tools, ideally with PRINCE2 and MSP accreditation, or extensive experience in a business project/change management role
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including working at executive level
  • Demonstrated ability to see the "big picture" and understand the strategic context of projects
  • Excellent communication, risk management and problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Flexible, can-do attitude with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative
  • Political acumen and an understanding of the public sector, with proven ability to network and influence at a range of levels
  • Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, always being mindful of the cultural diversity of the industry and having regard to Te Ao Māori and Treaty of Waitangi principles

Salary range $189,082 to $231,182 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
