Veterinarian (VTS2) based at South Pacific Meats Invercargill
Role Type: Fixed-term 14 months, full-time or part-time
Location: Invercargill, South Island
Salary: Range from $93,923-117,404 pro rata plus additional benefits.
Starting salary will be dependent on skills and experience of the successful applicant.
In addition to salary, we offer overtime, penal time and shift allowances.

MPI Verification Services (MPI VS) provides a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to support market access strategies and setting standards. The purpose of this role within VS is to provide a range of food safety, animal welfare and biosecurity verification and certification services based at meat exporting plants. To support the meat industry and New Zealand's reputation in the world red meat market for the product produced and to ensure food safety and export standards are being followed by the plant.
If you are you a veterinarian looking to broaden your experience or a veterinarian verifier looking to deepen your domain knowledge, we have an opportunity for a Veterinarian (VTS2) at South Pacific Meats (SPM51) which is a sheep and bobby calf processing plant.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys problem solving and enhancing their relationships with others with effective communication.
The role is varied, and you will be expected to do the following:
Mō te peka - About the Branch
SPM is an ovine and bobby calf processor, working day and night shifts, with regular weekend work, throughout the year. The plant is located within easy driving distance of Invercargill - New Zealand's southernmost city with a population exceeding 53,000.
This position reports to the Team Manager Establishments Invercargill and will work at South Pacific Meats AFFCO with two veterinarians (VTS2 and VTS1) as well as a regional team based around Invercargill and Gore. Hours of work will be rostered and include weekend hours on occasion. Any overtime is compensated and early starts, or late finishes are recognised with penal time payments, as well as shift leave accumulation.

The successful candidate will:
You will receive full-time technical training prior to being warranted under the relevant legislation. We have ongoing, on-site training, mentoring and technical support for you in your new role.
It is advantageous if you have knowledge of HACCP/Quality Assurance in Food Safety however, this is included in your training.
