About the opportunity:

Our client is the leading arboricultural specialist in Wellington. As the company is growing fast, they are now looking for a Financial Controller to assist the Managing Director as the company grows. You will be working with a fantastic group of people who are really passionate about what they do. This is a great opportunity for someone who can work effectively in an executive role.

Role description:

The Financial Controller is responsible for running the finance team and managing external financial reporting requirements and advising on all financial accounting matters. You will be responsible for ensuring internal controls are in place and managed appropriately. This role leads a small finance team and has lead responsibility for the integrity of the General Accounts.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Financial and management reporting
  • Business support (support the annual budgeting process, etc.)
  • Accounting services (manage finance support services, etc.)
  • Treasury (ensure prudent control over the company‚Äôs cashflows, cashflow forecast, etc.)
  • Taxation (manage tax filing including GST, FBT, etc.)
  • Corporate governance (assist in the preparation of advisory board papers, etc)
  • Owner of chart of accounts and overall integrity of the GL, manage GL reconciliations

This role will suit someone with the following background / experience / qualities:

  • Qualified accountant in NZ or similar
  • Expert skill level with Xero
  • Technical financial accounting experience
  • Industry knowledge/understanding
  • Work effectively in an executive team and provide sound advice to managers and staff
  • Experience in implementing robust and efficient systems and processes
