This is a significant and exciting opportunity for a highly experienced leader, in a newly-created Tier 2 position within the Ministry for Primary Industries.

Partnering effectively with Maori is vital to deliver on this vision, as we move towards a more productive, sustainable and inclusive economy as outlined in the Fit for a Better World roadmap.

MPI is committed to engaging with Maori, iwi and hapu as both Treaty partners and significant participants in the primary sector.

This role will oversee and guide MPI’s relationship with Maori primary sector partners and ensure MPI is well positioned to support the Maori-Crown relationship as an organisation.
You will have extensive experience of successful strategic leadership in complex environments, leading with mana and purpose.

Importantly, you will have knowledge of te ao Maori, including an advanced level of fluency and application of Te Reo Maori me ona Tikanga and will be a skilled exponent in a Maori cultural setting.
You will assist MPI to build and maintain effective partnerships with Maori and provide strategic direction to support Maori primary sector aspirations and results.

You will have experience working with Ministers and iwi/Maori leaders in the primary sector.

Inside our organisation you will sponsor MPI’s strategy and work programme for lifting capability to deliver for and with Maori.

This includes supporting our business units to build capability to work effectively with Maori to better deliver on our strategic priorities, meet our obligations under te Tiriti o Waitangi and support the Maori-Crown relationship.
