We are seeking a Psychiatrist to join our highly skilled multi-disciplinary Early Psychosis Intervention Team (EPIT)

  • Salary range per ASMS MECA Step 1 $185,380 - Step 15 $267,980 dependable on experience and qualification

Working in the vibrant and culturally diverse community of South Auckland, our innovative team provides specialised assessment and interventions for young adults (

Whilst the EPIT service primarily provides specialist mental health interventions for those with a first episode of psychosis, we also provide early intervention for those presenting with an At-Risk Mental State and provide consultation and liaison for our primary care partners for those with mild to moderate concerns.

The team has a well-established model of care and employs a full multi-disciplinary approach which includes incorporation of AOD, Vocational and Peer-Support specialists within the team alongside senior nursing and allied health roles.

You will have:

Comprehensive experience of modern psychiatric practice in a Community Mental Health setting

Preferably have knowledge of Early Intervention or Youth Mental Health approaches

Passion for working in a collaborative and team-based approach

Skills in working with diverse population groups, including Maori, Pacific and refugee populations

Eligibility to register in a Vocational Scope with the New Zealand Medical Council (eligibility for registration can be checked via this link Registration-self-assessment-tool )

Hold a current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Medical Council

In your new role you will :

Utilise a comprehensive skillset informed by Early Intervention Principles

Contribute to the clinical leadership of the team

Be based primarily at our Springs Road site in East Tamaki

Provide weekly liaison at Tiaho Mai (our award winning acute inpatient unit)

Engage in community-based assessments in people's homes, to ensure engagement and collaborative care planning with family/whanau supports.

This position is a Core Children's worker under the Children's Act & requires full safety checks completed before any new employee starts
