- Provide high quality environmental advice and analysis.
- Strategically contribute to improving our environment.
- Work closely with the Commissioner.
The Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment is looking for a new Adviser.
In line with the Commissioner’s work, an Adviser’s role is wide ranging, so your disciplinary background could include one (or ideally a combination) of natural or applied sciences, engineering, law, planning or water resources. You may have recently completed an advanced degree, or even have a year or two of practical experience behind you. In either case, your defining attribute is likely to be intellectual curiosity – asking the right question is often more important than providing a ready answer.
The Commissioner’s work is by nature complex and interdisciplinary, so if you’re as comfortable with data as you are with speaking to policy makers, as at home with scientists as you are in writing concise and comprehensible text, you’ll find the Commissioner’s office a richly rewarding place to be.
The Commissioner relies on maintaining the highest standards of independence, intellectual rigour and integrity in his staff. If you have a desire to improve New Zealand’s environment, and possess the qualities the Commissioner is seeking, then please apply.
Entry to New Zealand from all countries remains strictly controlled to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. You may only apply for this role if you have the right to work in New Zealand. For information about New Zealand work or residence visas, please visit www.immigration.govt.nz
