Civil and infrastructure work is increasing rapidly across Auckland and this civil contractor is at the business end of that workload delivering projects across the region. Movement within their management team now means that one of their civil departments is looking for a manager to take over existing work and take the department forward.

The department is part of the civil division and focusses on road related work that includes road realignments, roundabout and junction construction, car park construction, sub division infrastructure, maintenance etc. There is already a well-established team around 30 strong consisting of PM’s engineers and road crews with a turnover of roughly $25million per annum. As the new department manager your role with be to coordinate that team in its delivery of projects around the region whilst at the same time securing new work from existing and developing new clients.

You will already have a background in the civil sector with a specific focus on paving and “granular works” and be looking to take the next step in your career. Your previous experience as a project manager will allow you to advise and assist your team in the delivery of projects whilst maintaining the high standards the business is known for. As well as technical knowhow you’ll be an active promoter of a safe working environment and be heavily involved in mentoring and developing your team on a regular basis. Other required attributes include;

  • A proven track record in the civil/infrastructure space
  • 8 years+ experience working in the civil sector with some focus on pavements/roads
  • Excellent relationship skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • A practical and organised manner and a desire to further your success
  • A good sense of humour and a work hard, play hard approach
