- Influential leadership role.
- Large scale opportunity.
Let’s Get Wellington Moving (LGWM) is a joint initiative between Wellington City Council, Greater Wellington Regional Council, and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, all supported by the perspectives of its mana whenua partners. LGWM will develop a transformative mass rapid transport system, involving multiple modes, that supports Wellington communities’ aspirations for how the City looks, feels, and functions, as well as aligning with how Wellingtonians live.
A recommended $7bn programme of investment has been completed setting out the intended approach for improving Wellington’s transport system during the next two decades. From Ngauranga Gorge to the airport – including the Wellington Urban Motorway and connections to the central city, hospital, and eastern and southern suburbs – the aim is to underpin city and regional growth, and help people get around (whether walking, cycling, using public transport or driving).
With this major change programme underway and following positive public engagement, LGWM is looking for an experienced Programme Director – reporting to the Partnership Board – to take this programme through to implementation.
To succeed in this role you will develop, lead, and deliver the overall agreed LGWM programme. Drawing upon your superior relationship skills you will provide supportive and collaborative leadership that ensures LGWM’s partnerships (including with mana whenua and iwi) are well serviced. Acknowledged for your ability to motivate teams, you will also ‘have what it takes’ to engage transparently in complex and multi-faceted business environments.
A project of this nature will come with challenging milestones, meaning that maintaining momentum will be crucial. So, you will be adept in setting goals and following through on them. Your natural propensity for sharing knowledge will engender transparency, inform vision and reinforce authenticity. Able to coach and support, you will inspire and promote success in an open working environment.
Holding yourself and others to account, your accomplishments in delivering complex work programmes will reflect your political astuteness and comfort representing complex programmes in public forums. Ideally, you will have knowledge of the transport sector and urban development. Preferably, you’ll be a Wellingtonian or committed to what LGWM’s vision for Wellington is.
