About the role | Mō te tūnga 
The Ministerial Support team services the whole organisation with the aim of ensuring consistency and effectiveness of official correspondence and reporting across the business.
 
As an Advisor Ministerial Services, you will be responsible for: 

  • Providing advice and analysis on requests and correspondence in relation to the machinery of government, parliamentary processes, and other technical matters to Oranga Tamariki. 
  • Assist in providing high quality responses to correspondence including:
  • Ministerial correspondence
  • Chief Executive's correspondence
  • Official Information Act requests
  • Select Committee questions
  • Parliamentary questions

 
What you will bring | Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu

  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, and high level of critical thinking skills.
  • Able to synthesise and draw out key information from a variety of documentation and or conversations.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including ability to write documents that are clear and succinct.
  • Good 'nous' and understanding of the context that government departments operate in.
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in Ministerial Services or a relevant field.
  • Experience leading or writing Ministerial Correspondence, Parliamentary Questions or Select Committee responses.
  • Responsiveness to te ao Māori, tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and concerns including Pacific peoples' culture. 
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and comfortable working in an environment of continuous improvement
