  • Salary band - $114,025 to $121,444 p.a prorata and Kiwisaver

Mō te tūranga - About the role

We have an established District wide role for an experienced Registered Nurse who will provide nursing advice and leadership afterhours.

The successful candidate will be expected to role model specialist mental health nursing care based on substantial theoretical knowledge in a mental health setting and work with nursing staff to continually develop practice. You will support inpatient units and crisis teams across the District by providing advice around managing challenging clients, assisting with bed management and supporting staff after hours.

You will demonstrate sound professional judgement, strong leadership skills and a clear commitment to high quality care and the development of the Service. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate relevant experience and knowledge of patient safety, staff management, Trendcare and the ability to think outside the square.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • previous experience working within the Mental Health sector
  • strong leadership skills
  • up to date knowledge on the strategic documents that currently influence service improvements and be able to articulate this to the MHAID workforce.

Key accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Clinical Leadership of the service: fostering a culture that strives for excellence in clinical service provision within allocated resources
  • Assisting with Staff Management and Recruitment: Developing a cohesive and productive team
  • Assisting with the Financial Management of the service.
  • Quality and Risk Management of the service

  • be a Registered Nurse with a current APC
  • have completed a relevant post graduate qualification
  • have provensuccess in leadership in a health related environment, which will complement your experience in and knowledge of clinical quality, safety and best practice
  • have a minimum of five years' experience in working in Mental Health.

Utu whānui - Salary range

This role belongs to NZNO / Te Whatu Ora Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($110,704 p.a) and Step 2 ($117,907 p.a prorata) of the Designated Senior Nurse Scale.
