Mō te tūnga | About the role

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Aircraft Structural Integrity Programmes for delegated fleets along with delivering a regular and robust monitoring programme to ensure standards and policy requirements are being fully met.

The Aircraft Structural Integrity Engineer also provides reporting, advice and recommendations to the wider Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) team.

This role is based in RNZAF Base Ohakea. Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is the option of working from home 1 day a week.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with proven experience in Aeronautical Engineering and exposure to working under aviation regulations.

You will also have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering which is relevant to this role (Aeronautical/Mechanical).
  • Ability to effectively research and analyse complex, technical information.
  • Strong problem solving skills, able to develop effective solutions to technical problems.
  • Well-developed communication and relationship management skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and enjoy reading the fine print.

This role requires occasional domestic travel across NZDF's Camps and Bases and some international travel in order to attend training courses/conferences and visit key stakeholders.

Higher Level Security Clearance

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
  • At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
  • You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
