Te Uru Ruahī, Mental Health & Addiction Services (MHAS) is building a strong team of medical staff  who are keen to make a difference in our community and bring their specialist skills to Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral.We are looking for an AOD specialist to join the team! While this is a full-timeposition, but we are happy to discuss flexible options if you are looking for a part time position.


The role:

This is a key position offering the successful candidate the opportunity to join our existing AOD service medical staff (psychiatrists and addiction specialists) and to take a role in ongoing service development. We are particularly interested to hear from you if you have an interest in supporting the development of services to best meet the needs of clients who have co existing substance problems and mental health disorders. Our overall philosophy is encompassed by a commitment to harm reduction.  Our client base is approximately 600 with approximately two thirds on the Opioid Substitution Treatment programme and a third on the general addiction programme. We operate as a multi-disciplinary team that includes Psychiatrists, Addiction Medicine Specialists, Medical Officers, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, Alcohol and Other Drug Practitioners.


Our service:

MHAS is responsible for the commissioning and delivery of primary, specialist, and community mental health & addiction services across a diverse urban and rural population of 186,000. 

We provide treatment for and connection to recovery-orientated services for individuals experiencing mental illness or addiction issues. Services are delivered across the continuum of lifespan, both regionally and locally, and include specialist community MH&A teams, Kaupapa (Māori), Child Adolescent Mental Health Services, inpatient services, crisis response, acute alternatives, specialist primary mental health service, consultation-liaison MH, and specially designed residential programmes.
