Description

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors. We've now also partnered with Wellington City Council to operate Tākina, Wellington's newest Convention and Exhibition Centre.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Operations Coordinator to provide facility operations and quality customer service focused administrative services and support at the Tākina building.

The role involves:

  • Day to day liaison and administration of building and infrastructure related contracts
  • Creating and receipting purchase orders, matching invoices through for the final stage of payment
  • Co-ordinating wayfinding signage and digital advertising
  • Ensuring good health and safety practices are maintained and adhered to
  • Providing effective and efficient administrative support

We are looking for someone who has a solution-orientated approach and willingness to get stuck in. You will want to make things work seamlessly and where they don't you will find ways to make things work better. You will see issues or problems before they arise and act quickly to smooth the way. Experience in administrative processes will be useful, including MS Office and basic financial processing but a willingness to learn and an aptitude for being organised is most important. You will have a can-do approach and be willing to help out with many things big and small. We operate 7 days a week and therefore your flexibility to work over a 7-day roster including Public Holidays and weekends are essential criteria for suitability.  A Full Drivers Licence Class 1 and current OSH forklift certificate is desired but not essential.

Further information can be found in the Building Operations Coordinator Position Description.

Joining a busy, supportive team you will:

  • Gain access to excellent staff benefits across the museum.
  • Enjoy working at Tākina, Wellington's new Convention and Exhibition Centre and Te Papa
  • Receive discounts in the retail store and café.

Te Papa's three values Whanaungatanga (Teamwork), Manaakitanga (Respect) and Auahatanga (Creativity) are at the centre of how Te Papa works. Te Papa is an amazing organisation to work for with bold aspirations for the future.

The starting salary for this position will be between $54,000 and $62,000 p.a. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role, and internal relativities with other employees. Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand. Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including criminal conviction history and reference checking as a minimum.
