Mō te tūnga - About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with advanced clinical practice and a strong interest in Cardiology nursing to work in a senior nursing role. As the clinical nursing lead, you will support, mentor and act as a resource person for patients and whanau; the nursing teams and other health professionals.

The Structural Heart programme has primarily consisted of TAVI to date, although it is an area of development and other related procedures are now occurring. The successful candidate will have clinical expertise in Cardiology including good understanding of Cath Lab and peri-procedure processes. Ideally this experience would extend to the inpatient setting.

We are seeking someone who is passionate about providing a seamless journey for patients and who can communicate effectively and form positive working relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake thorough clinical assessments of patients referred for structural heart procedures.
  • Coordinate procedural lists and liaise with various medical teams to ensure smooth procedural undertakings.
  • Stay updated on research developments and contribute to the advancement of structural heart procedures and equipment.
  • Manage patient inquiries and maintain accurate records using advanced computer literacy skills.
  • Plan and oversee structural heart meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on patient outcomes.
  • Provide discharge planning and post-procedure follow-up care, advocating for patients' needs throughout their journey.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, including surgeons, cardiologists, and nursing staff, to deliver comprehensive patient care.

  • A positive role model in clinical leadership you will work collaboratively with the whole team involved with the Structural Heart programme to ensure high standards of care are maintained and quality patient outcomes are achieved.
  • Provide valuable support, education and clinical expertise to facilitate the delivery of the Structural Heart programme.
  • Promote nursing research, education and evidence-based practice.
  • Your broad knowledge and extensive recent cardiology experience will place you perfectly as a specialist resource for the team.
  • Motivated, organised, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people, is paramount in this role.
  • You - ll be an expert nurse and either hold, or be working towards, a relevant post graduate qualification and equivalent PDRP.
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Experience in quality improvement processes and principles
  • Having Cardiac Cath Lab experience is an advantage
