Service/Department: Care Associate, Emergency Department

Contract: Permanent, Part-time, 0.8 FTE (1 position), Rostered-Rotating

About the role.

We have an exciting position available in the Emergency Department for a suitably qualified Care Associate. This role will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and involves working closely with other staff including the multi-disciplinary team.

The Emergency Department team are a passionate, progressive and innovative bunch who are continually trying to find new ways to better serve the needs of our community. We are a fast-paced, high-turnover Department.

Skills and experience.

  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: ED environments present diverse and often urgent medical situations that require quick thinking and decisive action. Being able to rapidly assess situations, prioritize tasks, and make informed decisions is crucial.

  • Effective Communication: Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals in the ED.

  • Adaptability and Resilience: The ED department can be unpredictable, with constantly changing patient volumes and acuity levels. Being adaptable and resilient is essential for managing stress, coping with challenging situations, and adjusting to evolving circumstances while maintaining quality care.

  • Teamwork and Collaboration: The ED department rely on interdisciplinary teamwork to provide comprehensive care to patients. Being able to work effectively within a team, collaborate with colleagues from various specialties, and communicate efficiently in high-stress situations is vital for delivering optimal patient outcomes.
