Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated Certification Assessor to join our busy specialist team. In this role you will be involved in monitoring and reviewing Inspecting Organisations (IO) for Certificate of Fitness and Warrant of Fitness, including the assessment of IO applications that have progressed to a site assessment and overseeing applicant testing for vehicle inspectors.

You will be kept busy engaging and interacting with members of the vehicle industry (our regulated parties) , gathering information, writing reports and analysing data to inform decisions. You will support the Manager Safer Vehicles and the Safer Vehicles team to embed a culture of regulatory excellence through education, advice, deterrence, and enforcement.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge and experience:

  • A track record in building and sustaining working relationships with the transport and vehicle sector
  • A strong understanding and experience working in vehicle regulation is preferred
  • Experience in applying regulatory interventions
  • High degree of confidence using multiple IT systems including strong skills in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to write well-reasoned, articulate reports and ability to relate well with people at all levels
  • Excellent organisational skills to priorities risk and competing work demands and
  • Exposure to or experience of Warrant of Fitness and/or Certificate of Fitness inspections.

Qualifications:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Practice (Operational Knowledge) (Level 4) (or an expectation to complete this qualification within two years of undertaking the role)
  • PEACE Investigative Interviewing Level One (or an expectation to complete this qualification within two years of undertaking the role).

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
