Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Where you’ll be working: Adult Community Mental Health and Addictions Service (He Toa Takitini), 193 London Street, Hamilton

The details: Permanent – Part time 32 hours per week

A clinical psychologist has been a relatively recent addition to the triage service but one we have grown to value highly and wish to replace quickly.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

In collaboration with your MDT you will assist with making prompt and confident decisions about the best pathways for people who would benefit from psychological assessment or therapy.  You would have oversight of the team’s short term care pathway (STCP), co-ordinating an optimal flow of clients through this facility.  You would maintain a small caseload of individual and group clients identified as needing some timely psychology input via the STCP.  You would also filter out those clients most suited for referral to The Psychology Centre, as most suited for input from intern psychologists, or where packages of care to external providers are indicated.

You would be a clinician who takes satisfaction from expediently connecting people in distress to the right kind of help, preventing further deterioration in their wellbeing or social status.

Consultancy, liaison and advice are key components to this role so you would want to have good written and verbal communications skills and the ability to form mutually respectful relationships.
