About the role

Right now, we are looking for a Registered Psychologist to work in the Cancer and Blood Service at Whangarei Hospital. This is for a part time, permanent position working 20 hours per week between the hours of 8.00am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

In this role you will provide an effective, efficient psychological assessment and treatment to individuals who are experiencing psychological or emotional issues which is impacting their ability to achieve optimum functioning and well-being within the Cancer and Blood Service.

This role will:

  • Provide professional client-centred psychological practice to patients and their whanau/families
  • Liaise with the wider hospital in order to meet the patient and whanau's needs
  • Be an effective team member
  • Complete and update records and data within a timely manner

 

Key requirements

To be successful in this position, you need to have strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member and undertake the peripheral clinics as required.

  • Registered Psychologist with a current NZ practicing certificate
  • Comprehensive Psychologist assessment and treatment skills
  • Clinical experience in working with individuals with chronic health conditions
  • Proficient in evidence based practice
