Clinical Team Leader – Alcohol & Other Drug Team

Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth

1.0 FTE (80 hours per fortnight)

Permanent Position

We are seeking an inspirational Clinical Team Leader with a strong alcohol and other substance addiction clinical background to manage our Alcohol and Other Drug Team within the Mental Health & Addiction Services

You will be primarily accountable for the management of our counselling, allied health, nursing and administration team and ensuring safe clinical care practice standards and the best care outcomes.  You will be a strong, credible clinical leader with excellent addiction specialty knowledge and impeccable practice standards. The successful applicant will demonstrate a motivational leadership style and be able to build a cohesive team and facilitate service development. 

This position has strong working relationships with the wider Mental Health & Addiction Services, Service Management, Hospital & Specialist Services as well as NGO and primary stakeholders, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the provision of high quality care and family/patient centred care to all. Excellent interpersonal skills is a must as well as a commitment to continuous learning, is innovative and whai ora/whanau focused.

Moū - About you

Successful candidates will have:

  • Registration with a relevant registration body (DAPAANZ, Social Workers Board, Nursing Council NZ etc).
  • A relevant post graduate Qualification, Post Graduate Diploma desireable.
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate clinical experience in mental health & addiction settings.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Sound understanding of the legislation that underpins the addiction practice setting.
  • Quality improvement knowledge and the ability to lead quality projects.
  • Sound knowledge of Equity principles, a commitment to bi-culturalism and demonstrable application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.
  • Ability to work in a complex changing environment and able to juggle multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and across services.
  • Change and financial management experience (desirable).
