Mō te tūnga | About the role

You will act as part of a team to deliver a variety of tasks within the procurement lifecycle (plan, source, manage).

This role services the Defence Commercial Services (DCS) unit and Defence Digital Group (DDG) Procurement & Commercial Team.

The DCS DDG team provide commercial support and advice to the Defence Digital Group, working across all three services: Airforce, Army and Navy.

You will be required to:

  • Advise the business and support the delivery of contracts from approved Secondary Procurement Panels including recruitment services from panel frameworks, including Marketplace Subscription Forms and Statements of Work, and the All of Government (AoG) Talent Acquisition Services and Talent Services Orders.
  • Assist the Commercial Delivery team with procurement activities providing a client-focused, collaborative and integrated approach to external and internal stakeholder needs.
  • Assist with managing the administrative process throughout the duration of a procurement process.
  • Practice a continuous improvement approach across lifecycle activities to provide innovative solutions and minimise risk.

You'll play a key role in contributing to the NZDF commercial function, which affects the capacity for NZDF to undertake military operations. What we do matters.

This role is based in the Wellington region between Wellington CBD and Trentham. You can choose which location you primarily work from, but you will need to be available to work at either site as required.

Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is the option of working from home up to two days a week.

We're looking for a team player with a proven track record in engaging successfully with customers and key stakeholders.

You will be passionate about what you do and enjoy the challenge of delivering customer-focussed solutions. Your communication skills include being able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders with ease, with written work to a high standard. You'll be proactive, thoughtful and organised.

Ideal experience includes the following:

  • Supporting sourcing processes and contract administration.
  • A base understanding of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle process, the Government Procurement Rules and best practice procurement behaviour.
  • Work within the public sector.

Your attitude and “soft skills” are as important to us as your technical skills and government procurement experience.

This role requires flexibility to travel across the Wellington Region as you will be part of a team who are geographically dispersed across Wellington CBD, Petone and Trentham. Occasional domestic travel to NZDF Camps and Bases is required. You need to have a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence.

Low Level Security Clearance

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
  • At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
  • You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
