Our Data & Digital Commercial Management team plays a vital part in the implementation of strategies through the support of key business opportunities with our suppliers. The Commercial Management team sits within our Strategy & Investment team which also includes key capabilities for Industry Partnerships, Architecture and Investment/Portfolio Management.
The Data & Digital team have responsibility for designing, building and running the technology platforms that underpin the health sector. We run hundreds of national, regional, and district technology projects annually. We also have hundreds of active software, maintenance and support contracts. Meaning that ICT deals and contracting is at the heart of what we do.
Working with an extended team of procurement, commercial, and delivery teams your procurement, commercial and contracting skills will help us ensure we complete and close out commercial arrangements with our key ICT suppliers. Your role will focus on providing commercial and contracting leadership, guideance and expertise to extended procurement, and business teams. You will be expected to help manage a portfolio of software and contract renewals, working with procurement and the business.
As we are a newly formed entity there are plenty of opportunities to help us improve the way we do things. A key part of this role will be to help us move away from manual processes and into the structured systems that Health New Zealand is developing. In a large team we do deals at all ends of the spectrum. This role requires an astute commercial manager who is proficient in the ways for contracting for business as usual and stepping into larger contracts.

Join our team and play a vital role in shaping the technology landscape of our healthcare sector!
Your responsibilities will include collaborating with procurement teams to develop plans, drafting contract terms for RFPs, evaluating proposals, and negotiating with suppliers. You will work closely with legal teams on complex terms and ensure contracts are finalised efficiently. You will form part of our commercial deal review team and will review both large and small contracts as part of sign off processes.
We're looking for someone with a solid grasp of technology contracting principles. While legal training is not a requirement, you need to feel comfortable navigating technology contracts and understanding common contracting positions. You will be expected to be proficient at drafting base content for statements of work and managed services agreements. Supported by a developing body of review tools and templates you will be able to reviewed software and SaaS contracts and know what is standard and what isn't. More importantly you will have experience working in teams and leading to closure on ICT deals of varying sizes and complexity.
