Reporting to the Kaiwhakatere (CEO), the Pouwhakahaere Tahua provides strategic financial leadership to ensure financial sustainability by optimising business performance, including return on investment, treasury, and risk management. You will provide strategic financial advice to Te Mana Whakahaere, be the strategic financial advisor in the organisation, and play a pivotal role in formulating future strategies. In addition, you will provide commercial oversight of the extensive property portfolio and ensure system standardisation and automation efficiency across all financial processes. This will include providing a “single” consolidated view of the financial performance and position of the organisation and ensuring Te Wānanga meets all its legal and statutory obligations.

Ideally, the role will suit a qualified, experienced leader keen to join a collaborative and supportive executive team.
 
Your skills and experience will include:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Chief Financial Officer position, holding direct accountability for finance, business planning, corporate administration and commercial affairs.
  • Change leadership experience and a background in leading large-scale organisational change and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to look forward, define financial issues/implications or impacts on the business, and provide resolution options.
  • Proven commercial acumen in revenue generation and driving financial sustainability for organisations.
  • Exceptional people leader skills focused on culture, capability, performance and delivery.
  • Cultural awareness and appreciation of mātauranga Māori.
  • Relevant post-graduate educational qualifications and equivalent experience.
  • ACA, CA or CPA qualified and membership of CAANZ.
