At the GCSB, our mission is to protect and enhance New Zealand's security and wellbeing. The Intelligence Directorate plans and conducts GCSB intelligence activities in accordance with agreed Government policy and requirements, and represents GCSB as the national authority for signals intelligence.


The Director Intelligence Enablement provides leadership, strategic direction and functional guidance in relation to the conduct of signals intelligence collection, and the management of signals intelligence equities and performance. This includes responsibility for implementing the GCSB and Intelligence Directorate (ID) strategies; coordination and conduct of directorate business planning; coordination and delivery of the directorate's authorising environment; and 24/7 delivery of critical SIGNT enable functions. 


The Director is a member of the ID leadership team and part of the GCSB extended leadership and participates in senior management decision-making and policy development.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a pragmatic leader, who thrives on seeing others succeed with their support and direction. You are flexible, open, self-motivated and results-driven. You have the ability to do what is difficult or unpopular when required, to work effectively under pressure and focus on key issues.


Ideally you have:

  • A commitment to enabling staff to achieve exceptional outcomes through effective direction and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in leadership and staff development.
  • Experience in contributing and participating at a senior level to in strategic planning and resource management.
  • Significant experience in building relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed conceptual thinking and problem-solving ability with the ability to develop alternative pathways to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in Policy, Security and/or Business Administration at a senior level.
  • Broad knowledge and experience of SIGINT processes and the intelligence community is desirable.
