Our Emerging Professionals Programme | Te Reanga Pito Mata runs over 24 months with three 8-month rotations within the selected area of specialisation and brings some of the top emerging talent from across the motu together with the best people from NZTA - Waka Kotahi. Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity - Engineering and Project Management
Our Te Toki - Transport Services group aims to deliver great outcomes now and make the'future a better place'. We aspire to be the kaitiaki of the transport system - with partners, for people, for our land, and'for the future.

We manage approximately 11,000km's of state highway network across New Zealand which includes a variety of infrastructure including pavement, drainage, structural, geotechnical, and other corridor related assets.
Engineering
As an Engineer you will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of engineering disciplines, this may include asset management and programme development, operation and maintenance of the network, asset renewals, minor improvements, or major capital transport projects, all to ensure that work meets NZTA Waka Kotahi standards and specifications.
Project Management
As a Project Manager, you will deliver the forward work plan for capital transport projects as well as supporting the NZTA Waka Kotahi vision of efficiently delivering an integrated, safe, responsive, and sustainable transport system, to create great journeys across the motu and to keep New Zealand moving.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • An engineering (civil, construction or environmental) or project management qualification (within the last 6 years) and an interest in pursuing a career in engineering or project management.
  • Strong personal and cultural values that drive your performance and commitment.
  • The desire to collaborate and engage with a broad range of people.
  • A desire to learn and gain new skills and knowledge.
  • Natural curiosity around how things are done and how to make things better.
  • A pro-active approach.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
