We are looking for our next Workshop Foreperson to lead our Lower Hutt based Client, a provider of engineering solutions. As they continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Engineering Workshop Foreperson to lead the workshop operations and drive efficiency and productivity.

Position Overview:

As the Engineering Workshop Foreperson, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our workshop operations. You will lead a team of skilled technicians and machinists, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong leader with excellent technical knowledge, organizational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate workshop activities, including machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and testing.

• Schedule and prioritize work orders to meet project deadlines and customer requirements.

• Provide technical guidance and support to workshop staff, including training and development opportunities.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and enhance quality.

• Monitor equipment and tools, and coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.

• Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and track expenses to stay within budgetary constraints.

• Communicate regularly with project managers and other stakeholders to provide updates on progress and address any issues or concerns.

Qualifications:

• Expert experience with Structural Steel and Heavy fabrication.

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within an engineering workshop or manufacturing environment.

• Strong technical skills with expertise in machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly processes.

• Excellent leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing teams and driving performance.

• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make decisions quickly and efficiently.
