At the heart of Maritime New Zealand's success is the provision of a broad range of administrative and other business support functions. The purpose of the Business Support Team is to provide coordinated, efficient and high-quality support to the Board, Executive and various teams, playing an important organisational role in ensuring strong connections and collaboration within teams and across other support functions.

Te tūnga | The role  

Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) Regulatory Operations in relation to day-to-day operations and workflow, this position reports to the Manager, Business Support in the Office of the Chief Executive, People & Culture group. As the Executive Assistant for Regulatory Operations, you are responsible for providing a range of support to the DCE and General Manager - General Regulatory Operations, including diary and correspondence management, meeting and events organisation, administrative support and from time-to-time assistance with onboarding new employees, and budgeting and reporting support.

Nōu te rourou | What you bring

  • Previous experience in an Executive Assistant role to a senior executive or manager, working in complex environments
  • Proven experience in using digital tools and technologies to create greater efficiencies, with an emphasis on MS Office and document management systems
  • Experience and confidence in taking minutes, preparing agendas and providing meeting support to senior executives or managers
  • Ability to manage complex issues and influence others positively
  • A track-record of operating with complete confidentiality, discretion and using sound judgement skills
  • Flexible can-do attitude with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative
  • A strong stakeholder focus, with the ability to build rapport, maintain relationships, network and influence across a range of levels
  • A highly attuned radar for risk, a curious mind with an inclination towards problem solving and outcomes
  • Well-developed organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • Advanced communication skills, both oral and written
  • Political acumen and an understanding of the public sector
  • Able to travel outside Wellington (occasionally)
  • Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, always being mindful of the cultural diversity of the industry and having regard to Te Ao Māori and Treaty of Waitangi principles

Salary range $72,540 to $88,393 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
