The details: Permanent Full time – 40 hours per week

Salary details: Starting from $70,842 to $103,000 + KiwiSaver


  • We are looking to grow our Cardiac Technician Team with more Anaesthetic Technicians who have experience in this speciality.

  • While the role will sit in the Cardiac Roster you will also be required to work in all our other specialities that we have here at Te Whatu Ora Waikato.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of airway management is essential especially airways specific for cardiothoracic surgery (one lung ventilation/standard ventilation) as well as advanced airway management such as video laryngoscopy and bronchoscopy.

Extensive knowledge and understanding of airway management is essential especially airways specific for cardiothoracic surgery (one lung ventilation/standard ventilation) as well as advanced airway management such as video laryngoscopy and bronchoscopy.


Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Be responsible for assisting in and delivery and evaluation of safe and appropriate centred care within the delivery of anaesthesia to a patient

  • Provide a professional manner, skilled, clinical and technical assistance to the anesthetist

  • Work part of the theatre team in providing maximum quality care to patients undergoing anaesthesia.

Mōu | About you

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of airway management

  • Advance airway management such as video laryngoscopy and bronchoscopy.

  • At least 2 years working as a Cardiac Anaesthetic Technician (private or public)

  • Have experience in preparing, cleaning and using the TOE probe and machine and be proficient at using TEG

  • Able to work rostered shifts (Days,PMs, weekends and nights) as well as involved in the cardiac on call roster

  • Be registered or have the ability to register with Medical Science Council NZ including a current APC
