Specialist Mental Health Services (SMHS) is based at Hillmorton Hospital in Christchurch - we encompass a range of specialist services focusing on the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of Mental Health consumers. As a multi-disciplinary team our highly skilled nurses are valued for their practice, and we therefore recognise the skills that nurses from other areas of healthcare can bring to our teams.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Registered and Enrolled Nurses who do not have mental health clinical experience into an Experienced Nurse Programme. We will support you to build on your previous nursing experience to develop specialist mental health skills to provide safe and effective nursing care to consumers with complex mental health needs.
Pehea | About You
Within this six-month programme you will be provided with the opportunity to learn, develop, and grow. You will be employed into a permanent position within one of our inpatient or community teams all whilst maintaining the grade and step reflective of your experience as per the MECA. On the programme you will be supported by an - on the job - preceptor with support from an educator for the programme. In addition, you will learn knowledge and skills for nursing in SMHS through paid participation in study days specifically designed for you and others in the programme.
