Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Payroll kapa (team) is a fundamental part of the HR Shared Services (HRSS) whānau (family).  They tautoko (support) the largest workforce in the South Island ensuring we pay our kaimahi (staff) accurately, on time, every time. They - re hard-working and dedicated delivering their mahi (work) to high standards putting the kaimahi (staff) at the centre of what they do.

We are seeking a motivated Payroll Officer to join our Legislation and Compliance kapa (team) within our Payroll Department. This is a busy role where you will be responsible for development and delivery of excellent customer service experience, make timely and accurate payments to kaimahi (staff) of the Waitaha Canterbury, maintain employee records and work closely with the HRSS kapa (team).

You will be responsible for:

  • Calculating work and non-work related ACC payments.
  • Providing accurate and prompt information to WellNZ and ACC.
  • Liaising with all HRSS teams to ensure a timely pay run.
  • Loading pay data into the Payroll system.
  • Co-ordinating, training, and supporting other team members.
  • Answering employee related queries with a confidential and empathetic approach.
  • Liaise wither other Te Whatu Ora kaimahi (staff), WellNZ and ACC to obtain accurate ACC claim details.
  • Investigation and resolution of payments.

To be successful in this role, you should be comfortable in a complex, diverse and fast-paced work environment.  We need someone who - s resilient, driven, works well under pressure and is unphased by delivering to deadlines while achieving a high level of accuracy.  This role would suit an energetic problem solver with a keen eye for detail who can adapt their style and focus when the need arises.  Drive and determination to deliver excellent customer service is a must.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Understanding of ACC payment legislation and Holidays act.
  • Experience in health or related field.
  • Considerable experience processing Payroll, experience with Superannuation, Kiwi Saver, Deductions, IR Filing and taxation is required.
  • Accurate numeracy and keyboard skills.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Suite applications and proficient user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Sound organisational and time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
