Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Our Business Services team is here to make sure that Data and Digital thrive like a well-oiled machine. We're the ones who help set the course, gather resources, and make sure things run smoothly - think of us as the team who help join the dots, support decision making and linkages to broader governance groups - and help ensure everyone is on the same page!
Our overarching goal is to hold the vision of a ‘whole-of-sector', ‘whole-of-system', ‘whole-of-life' approach and to help our teams navigate through the organisational eco-system, including the important linkages to privacy, risk and our enterprise level management and governance machinery.
Supporting our teams to get their work into an approvable format, and helping accelerate decision making, while keeping things safe and sound in the world of Data and Digital is our specialty.
Mōu | About you
As our Governance Advisor, you will play a crucial part of our national Te Whatu Ora Data & Digital Design Councils and their subgroups. You will be the driving force behind their smooth operation, ensuring effective governance, decision-making, and alignment with our strategic goals.
Imagine leading the way in planning exciting agendas and providing essential secretariat support. You'll be tracking actions, helping to craft high-quality reports, and ensuring robust content is provided to support decision-making. Your expertise will be the backbone of these processes. Your role also involves guiding and offering feedback to ensure top-notch meeting materials. We want our meeting packs to be first-rate, supporting efficient decision-making.
As a key player, you'll oversee various governance tasks, ensuring our policies and obligations are met. Your role will also include onboarding new members and providing backup for peers. Your insights will be crucial to support effective decision making for our Design Council and Senior Leadership Team submissions. With your expertise, we'll continuously improve our practices, and you will help us align with our equity priorities and Treaty of Waitangi obligations.
Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. You will promote collaboration and innovation on a national and international scale, helping us shape our Data & Digital Roadmap, as well as driving our communications with stakeholders. You will be our risk watchdog, highlighting both strategic and operational risks. Working closely with various teams, your positive relationships will be invaluable.

Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining together of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.
At Te Whatu Ora we acknowledge and respect our people's diversity and spiritual needs, ensuring a safe workplace that is a whānau orientated and supportive environment. We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures greater access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system – Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.
