The Opportunity

We are looking for a permanent, part time (0.5FTE) Health Care Assistant to join our team.

STAR 4 is a 20-bed rehabilitation ward for patients 16 years and over in the Horowhenua Health Centre, Levin, although most patients are over 65 years old. It is part of the MidCentral Healthy Ageing and Rehabilitation (HAR) Cluster based in Palmerston North and has links to the Community Elder Health Team. STAR 4 cares for a multitude of health consumers including palliative and end of life.

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

 

Desirable competencies:

  • Successful completion of a Care Givers or related course.

 

There is an expectation for the successful candidates to complete a study programme which includes self-directed workbooks. Any comparable course already undertaken by the successful candidate will be taken into account. When the programme is completed, the candidate is a fully qualified Care Assistant.
