Intern Pharmacist

Whanganui Hospital Pharmacy Department

Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora - Whanganui

Fixed term (12 months), full time (40 hours per week)

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Are you looking to join a highly regarded forward thinking pharmacy department, where pharmacists provide a high standard of clinical pharmacy services for their patients?  If you are enthusiastic, hardworking and eager to develop your career as a clinical pharmacist then this could be the ideal job for you!

Whanganui Hospital Pharmacy is offering an exciting opportunity for an intern to join our friendly, multicultural team in 2025.

In our hospital you will have the opportunity to work across all wards, working alongside clinical pharmacists and being part of the multi-disciplinary team.  You will be encouraged and supported to have a go at everything, which will both challenge and extend your clinical experience and skills.

Whanganui Hospital has ward-based pharmacy technicians gathering patient medication histories. This allows pharmacists more time to focus on providing clinical services, improving patient outcomes and ensuring optimal medicines utilisation.

Education is a strong emphasis within the service including provision of information to patients, caregivers and whānau on safe and effective use of medicines as well as providing on-going training and education to prescribers, nursing and pharmacy colleagues.   You will have the opportunity to be involved in quality improvement activities and projects.

Close relationships with the community mean opportunities for community pharmacy placements to help embed your dispensing, counselling and OTC skills.

We commit to providing you with on-going support and training each step of the way to ensure that you expand your knowledge and skills and fulfil all the requirements to confidently become a pharmacist.

PSNZ Evolve training fees will be paid for.

There really is no better place to move your career forward.
