Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity

Are you an experienced and energetic communications professional, looking to work in an interesting, busy and supportive environment?

Come and join our engaged and motivated Communications, Engagement and Events directorate as a Senior Advisor. We need your innovative thinking and strategic communications insight to lead and support a wide range of kaupapa that is making a difference for our communities.

Our team is all about understanding and connecting with our audiences and stakeholders to support our vision of thriving whānau.

This is a fixed term role, backfilling a secondment vacancy.

 

Ko wai koe | About you

As a successful candidate you will have:

  • Expertise in communication best practice and you maintain an up-to-date knowledge of communications tools and techniques
  • Public sector communications experience required, with an in-depth understanding of machinery of government processes
  • Experience managing media relations, and implementing both proactive and reactive approaches as necessary
  • Experience providing support to ministerial offices, including preparing speeches, talking points, run sheets and media material
  • Experience overseeing social media channels, including planning and preparing appropriate content
  • A great team player, a can-do attitude and be willing to roll up your sleeves and help out where necessary
