My client, a leading provider of engineering solutions have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Draughter to join their established growing business. Based in the adventure and tourism mecca of Rotorua the region is renowned for world-class spa and wellness experiences, otherworldly geothermal landscapes, rich Māori culture, and incredible backyard of lush forests and sparkling lakes. On offer to the successful applicant is a supportive environment with professional and personal development encouraged and a salary of $70 K - $80 K + benefits. This is a permanent, full-time position Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday work as project demands require. 35 hours per week are guaranteed with normal drawings office hours 42.5 per week.

Ōpūkenga/Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualified with a Certificate, Diploma or similar in Mechanical Drafting or CAD
  • 8+ years of Engineering related professional industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience in 3D modelling (Solidworks or similar) and 2D drawing (AutoCAD) to produce manufacturing drawings and BOM
  • Experience with EPDM (Enterprise Product Data Management) software is advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Organised with excellent communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as unsupervised
  • Excellent numeracy and English, verbal and written communication skill
  • Current NZ Residency or existing Work Visa and based in or imminent arrival to Rotorua

Kaupapa Matua: Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed layout drawings from quotes and specifications with input from Managers
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions, obtain and/or verify design data and ensure client needs and industry standards are met
  • Model parts and assemblies for each job based on drawings, quotes and specifications
  • Produce workshop manufacturing drawings (fabrication, folding, profiling, and machining) within required timeframes to meet manufacturing deadlines
  • Ensure accuracy and precision in all drafting work, ensuring products being designed are cost effective, based on best practice engineering principles and fit for purpose
  • Derive BOM’s and steel cut lists from drawings for procurement
  • Review and revise drawings based on feedback and project requirements
