Where you’ll be working: Microbiology Department – Waikato Hospital

The details: 2 x Permanent Full time positions (40 hours per week) and 1 x Part time position (20 hours per week)

Salary details: $59842-$76374 depending on experience

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We have 3 positions (2 full time, 1 part time) available within the Microbiology Department at Waikato Hospital. This is a busy and interesting diagnostic hospital laboratory that provides testing both locally and to the Te Manawa Taki region.


Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Process and examine samples received in the laboratory
  • Communicate results to Laboratory staff and Clinicians
  • Maintain inventory and equipment
  • Participate in the shift roster including evening and weekend work

Mōu | About you

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

  • Ability to work well within team environment, but also independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Bring a high standard of quality and attention to detail throughout work processes
  • Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand as a Medical Laboratory Technician and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Previous experience in Microbiology will be advantageous
