Tauranga Hospital is a 326 bed Upper Secondary hospital serving a population base of 220,000 people.  Situated in the sunny eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island, the Bay of Plenty really is just that, offering vast golden sand beaches, bush clad mountains, lush farmlands and more. Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatāne.  We serve a population of approximately 308,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki. Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is one of the Bay of Plenty's largest employers with over 4000 staff.

He kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

There are 28 Medical Registrar positions, two of which are dedicated positions for Advanced Trainees in Cardiology and Gastroenterology. 

The Department of Medicine at Tauranga Hospital consists of 28 consultants working across Acute General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Oncology, Health in Ageing, Haematology and Palliative Care. The run period is 2 x 6 monthly attachments.

The positions are based at Tauranga Hospital which is a busy secondary care hospital of around 350 beds with approximately 90 medical beds, 39 elderly/rehabilitation beds, including acute stroke unit; 10 ICU beds; 10 CCU beds and 28 Acute Assessment beds.
