Marlborough Adut Community Mental Health Team

Two full-time, fixed-term positions for 12 months, each working 80 hours a fortnight.

Normal hours of work are between 8.00AM and 4.30PM, Monday to Friday with overtime as required.

In Marlborough, Adult Mental Health Services are delivered by an established multi-disciplinary team based at the Wairau Hospital in Blenheim. This team delivers a comprehensive clinical resource to those affected by acute or enduring severe mental illness.

We are passionate about mental health and the recovery process, delivering a high standard of care and having a real impact on the lives of some of our most vulnerable people.

As a Mental Health Assistant your role is to support the work of a multidisciplinary team that includes Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Dieticians. You will be working under the supervision and direction of registered health professionals. This may include working with challenging behaviours. We strive to create a positive and balanced work environment and safe workloads. 

The salary range for this role is $59,024 to $74,442 (effective 1 April 2024) based on the current Public Health Nursing Collective Agreement, depending on relevant qualifications and experience.

We are looking for people with excellent communication skills, who ideally have experience working in the mental health field, or health support. It is equally important that you can work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty and reliability and use appropriate initiative.  

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

Essential

  • Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
  • Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)

Preferred

  • NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand (or equivalent)
