Where you’ll be working: Waikato Region

The details: Permanent, part-time @ 0.5FTE

Salary details: Grade 2-4


  • Become part of a caring, collaborative, and supportive team in a region perfect for adventure and family life.
  • Enable and motivate midwives to work at their natural best, to feel safe and leave at the end of the shift feeling fulfilled.
  • Work in a supernumery capacity, coaching, sharing knowledge, helping to develop critical thinking and providing practical clinical support.
  • Be integral in supporting the growth of our student midwives, those new on their midwifery journey and those returning to the midwifery profession.
  • Act as a resource, build relationships with students and help in the development and support of the New Graduate Programme.
  • Orientate new midwifery staff, and supervise midwives undertaking the Return to Practice Programme.
  • Help grow and develop our midwives in complex areas of HDU care and flight team training.
  • Endorse and support QLP, postgraduate studies, speciality midwife roles and senior midwifery positions.

We are seeking a registered midwife with at least 5 years post registration experience to join our established Midwife Clinical Coach team in one of the largest tertiary hospitals in the southern hemisphere.

Mōu | About you

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

  • Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent.
  • Registration with Midwifery Council and current practicing certificate without conditions.
  • Desirable to have a confident or higher level on the Quality and Leadership Programme
  • NZCOM preceptor or mentor training course
  • Minimum of 5 years post registration experience
  • Be fully engaged in the Midwifery Council Recertification Programme
  • Completed or participating in postgraduate education

Waikato Hospital serves whanau requiring complex care from around a widespread and diverse region. From primary birthing units within the Waikato to other hospitals located in the wider Midland region. We provide maternity services for urban, rural and remote rural populations, compromising over five thousand births per annum. We pride ourselves on having a great midwifery team and the Midwife Clinical Coach role is an essential part of building and supporting this team.
