Use your experience in road asset management to work across a variety of structures and highway projects throughout the north-west of the South Island.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As our Network Manager you'll work closely with our three Senior Network Managers, supporting them across a variety of projects.

You will collaborate on the maintenance and renewals work, across our bridges of the State Highway network in the north-west of the South Island, ensuring that access to the use of the network is maintained. Our state highway network ranges throughout the Tasman, including SH1, SH6, SH60, and SH65.

You will have access to our fleet of electric vehicles, with options to work between home and the office in Nelson.

An important part of the role is maintaining relationships with key stakeholders on behalf of NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, as you work alongside the Senior Network Manager to manage the forward planning and budgeting of our maintenance and operations activities with our Maintenance Contract Manager, Councils, consultants, and residents.

You will be responding to customers' needs, whilst also taking a practical and pragmatic approach to manage suppliers. You will bring a 'fix-it' attitude and have a strong desire to manage and resolve issues and draw on your previous experience in a similar role.

As a member of the Network Management team, you'll be joining a high performing team of Senior Network Managers across the region who really know their stuff! They've achieved some extraordinary outcomes over the last 5 years. The team collaborate on projects, enjoy sharing their expertise and bouncing ideas off one another.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Technical and practical experience in Road Asset Management
  • Experience working across central or local government
  • Experience delivering best value solutions within a constrained budget
  • Experience in emergency response, Lifelines, resilience activities
  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills
  • A Bachelor of Engineering or a relevant tertiary/trade qualification, or equivalent experience
  • NZ Driver's Licence (or equivalent) is required
  • Proven experience in a similar role that requires a high level of self-management
