Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Occupational Therapist – North CMH Team

Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth

1.0 FTE (80 hours per fortnight)

Permanent Position

We are currently looking for a suitably qualified Registered Occupational Therapist with experience in mental health to join our well-established North Community Mental Health Team.

This role will work weekdays between the hours of 0800 to 1630 excluding Public Holidays. The role provides specialist assessment, treatment and knowledge to mental health Service Users, their support network and the multidisciplinary team. This is achieved by means of undertaking a keyworker/co-working role, the active participation in the multidisciplinary team and by utilising team and by utilising recovery-based principles. Networking with Primary health and NGO providers to achieve coordinated optimum outcomes for the client in an integral part of the role.

Moū - About you

Successful candidates will have:

·
Recent Mental Health experience preferably in a community setting

·
Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills

·
Expertise in Mental State examination and Risk assessment

·
Competence with using talking therapy interventions such as DBT, CBT amongst others.

·
Ability, skills and knowledge to implement appropriate occupational interventions and conduct functional assessments.

·
Ability to work autonomously to manage a caseload, support other team members and respond to routine and crisis situations

·
Excellent problem solving and communication skills
