Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

ID Forensic Services has adult, youth and community services. National Individualised Service unit is a new service with 6 beds for people with an Intellectual Disability and/or mental health disorders. Haumietiketike is a regional intellectual disability secure forensic unit which has 11 beds. The Cottages have a total of 8 beds and are located next to Haumietiketike which is on the Ratonga-Rua-o-Porirua campus in Porirua. 

Hikitia Te Wairua is the national intellectual disability secure forensic youth unit which has 6 beds. Hikitia Te Wairua is co-located with the Youth Acute Inpatient Mental Health Inpatient Unit (Rangatahi) and the National Secure Youth Forensic Unit (Nga Taiohi) in the Centre of Excellence at Kenepuru Hospital. 

Moū - About you

Someone well suited to this position would have experience/knowledge with some of the following practical skills which will be used working alongside our clients individually or in groups:

  • Must have at least level 3 NZQA National Certificate in Community Health Support Services (or equivalent qualification).
  • Good written and oral English skills 
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be flexible and adaptable and have excellent time management skills.
  • Have the ability to work under direction and also be proactive in carrying out tasks independently and in a culturally safe way.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in stressful and changing situations. 
  • Basic group facilitation skills.
  • Basic problem solving skills.
  • Some care giving background.
  • Mental health and intellectual disability experience.
  • Able to set own values aside
  • The skills to undertake craft, gardening, carpentry/mechanical projects with clients.
  • The ability to run activity based groups for service users and work one on one as required
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi.
  • Hold a full drivers- licence.
  • Must be able to pass a police and MOJ check and have no criminal convictions
