Contract: Permanent Full-time, (Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm)

Salary:  As per MECA

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary Team at the Regional Rangatahi inpatient Service. (RRAIS).  Our service treats young people that cannot safely or adequately be provided in a community setting and who require intensive treatment, investigation or observation (24 hours per day).

Duties will include:

  • Day to day running of Therapeutic Day Programme alongside wider team. 
  • Attendance and participation within MDT and wider team.
  • Articulates, negotiates and demonstrates the role and functions of an occupational therapist in the team.
  • Provides appropriate, effective occupational therapy services for clients which facilitate and enable increased functioning incorporating the four domains of Te Whare Tapa Wha. 
  • Develops tools and establishes groups for client skill development.
  • Utilises a broad range of knowledge and experience for the benefit of clients.

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

The Rangatahi Unit is a 12 bedded mental health acute unit, that provides a service for adolescents aged between 13 to 17 years of age who have a serious mental health disorder ( as defined in the DSM 1V ). They will be requiring intensive treatment, investigation or observation (24 hours per day) that cannot safely or adequately be provided in a community settingThe Rangatahi Unit provides a Therapeutic Day Programme for Inpatients designed to meet the needs of the Rangatahi experiencing an acute episode of mental illness.

The team has bicultural focus and is supported by a Kaumatua and a Kuia, the team uses a Maori health model to guide their practice with emphasis on whanaungatanga, tikanga.

Moū - About you

This role is open to those who have skills and expertise in working with adolescents and their families and hold a relevant qualification. You will fit into a strong team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour, and respect across disciplines.  The ideal applicant will have experience in the child and adolescent mental health sector and a proven ability of working with a multi-disciplinary team and experience in the Day to day running of Therapeutic Day Programme alongside wider team.
