Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Orthopaedic Registrar, Orthopaedic Department 1.0 FTE

Full-time positions; six and twelve month runs.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fantastic Orthopaedic team who provide a comprehensive service for the population of Gisborne and the wider Tairāwhiti region.

Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti (Gisborne) are looking for Orthopaedic Registrars to join them in full time positions throughout the January 2024 to January 2025 Registrar year. This run is accredited for Rural Hospital Medicine Training Program through the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Gisborne Hospital is well supported locally by comprehensive surgical services, and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site including a MRI scanner, CT scanner and 24 hour on-site laboratory facilities.

If you are looking for work life balance, Gisborne is the place to be! Tairāwhiti is the first place in the world to see the sun, and is also considered New Zealand’s surfing “capital.” With a sunny climate, amazing beaches and picturesque landscapes, you are spoiled for choice when it comes to outdoor fun. Consistent surf breaks make it easy to get in a surf before or after work. You could explore one of the many walking tracks, paddle the river, or ride the local mountain bike park! Gisborne also boasts a varied cultural scene, as the home of festivals like Rhythm and Vines, First Light Wine and Food, and Te Tairāwhiti Arts. The influence of the region’s large Māori population is deeply felt in the language, art, and culture you can experience here.
